Dogtooth scarf: ways to wear

Clearly I'm going back to my roots with these ways-to-wear posts - two posts in as many weeks! I've always loved doing these style of blogs though, seeing how many outfits and looks you can create with something simple! This weeks item of choice is my dogtooth scarf that was around £10 from primark; as you know dogtooth is my life long love and this scarf is really nice and thick so it's perfect for winter! Don't limit yourself though - I played around and found 3 different ways to wear it. If you're wondering why the lightings weird it's because I shot these photos a lot earlier in the morning than normal so the sun was rising (you can actually see the different amounts of sunlight in each of the 3 sets of photos how weird).

First things first, let's get the simple one out the way. The most obvious way to wear a scarf is to wear it draped round your neck we all know that. But we also know that sometimes the simplest answer is the right one so don't dismiss it! Under the scarf, I wore a plain white shirt which I think is a must in every girls wardrobe because it goes with or under anything! Mine was from river island ages ago but just walk into any clothes shop and I'm sure you'll find one just fine. I think it works well worn with the scarf because it rests against the collar. I kept to the working-woman style by adding black skinny jeans (topshop £36) and then caged black heels (new look £27.99).

Capes and blanket wraps are massive right now but why buy something you may already own? Any big scarf will work just fine - simply wrap it round your shoulders then secure with a thin belt. I think the dogtooth works especially well as a blanket wrap because it makes a real statement. I went with two clashing statements by pairing a print with a slogan; I layered my 'more issues than vogue' tee under the scarf and then added black jeans for a great monochrome look. I finished with my favourite shoes that you haven't actually seen in a while - my grey strappy sandals which were £24.99 from new look. The reason you haven't seen them is because a) it's winter b) I live in England and c) I'm not a masochist (and I happen to like the way my toes look without frostbite fyi). But don't worry, they'll definitely be back when the sun is!

I can't actually believe I let this skirt go forgotten about for so long! I bought it last winter but barely wore it and then rediscovered my love for it when the weather started getting colder. I think it was around £30 from topshop and I love the mixed fur texture (plus it goes with everything). I added my current favourite shoes (which knocked my strappy grey ones off the top spot) and black tights, and then added a tiny pop of colour with this powder blue 3/4 sleeve tee which I got from new look. I obviously finished with the scarf (otherwise I wouldn't have included the look in this blogpost) and this time I went with the wound-round-the-neck style which not only looks good (especially with a scoop-neck style top) but also keeps you toasty when you have to brave the icy weather!
