The perks of being a spendaholic

This is another classic example of my spending abilities/addictions running away with themselves. Initially, I was just going to look for a single red eyeshadow for my halloween makeup (still not saying exactly what I'm being). But I've been lusting after warm palettes with red shades in them, such as the MAC warm neutrals palette and the Morphe Brushes 35O palette, so I fell in love when I spotted this cheap alternative; the sunset palette by Sleek for £7.99. So I thought it made more sense to get the palette than just a single eyeshadow. And then I thought that while I was ordering from Boots, I may aswell buy new lashes, new mascara and 2 new felt tip eyeliners too (not in the photo). So basically, my "singular eyeshadow" cost me £40. Well it is payday, so I suppose it doesn't really matter. Especially when you compare it to the fact that I placed a £295 order on Missguided this morning while I was supposed to be working. Although I did get 30% discount which knocked £88 off so again, I basically saved money. Next to be saved? My soul.

A lot of the time with cheaper eyeshadows, you can really tell that they're cheap. But actually I've always been impressed with the Sleek palettes (this one is the third I've bought). They're really highly pigmented and apply really nicely. When it comes to budget eyeshadows, shimmer shades always go on much nicer than matte shades. After doing colour swatches all the way up my arm, I realised I had made a bad decision because the photo was stupidly hard to take. Look how nice the colours are though! The second and third in from the left were the exact kind of colours I originally wanted.

I like to think that it's my spending karma coming back around for me. To thank me for spending too much money on makeup, the karmic gods sent me some freebies. As if I didn't love my job enough already (in case I haven't mentioned it enough, I work at UNiDAYS and you can see what I get up to over on twitter @MyUNiDAYS or on the blog), we got sent some NYX makeup to try out by Boots who have recently launched on our site. And seeing as the other girls on the social media team don't wear lipstick or eyeshadow (my 2 favourite things), I got pretty much whatever I wanted. I got 2 shimmer eyeshadows in a rich purple and an iridescent silver, plus a matte taupe eyeshadow. I also got a purple chubby eyeshadow pencil, a light purple lipstick and a dark vampy lipstick. So basically, it's been a pretty good friday (despite the rain).
