16 of the best feelings ever

Don't you think that there are some feelings that can't be defined by a word or an emotion but are literally the best things ever? No I'm not being soppy or cringey - I'm not talking about love or getting a 'good morning beautiful' text. Nope, I'm not that kind of girl - on my list are things like alcohol and shopping. I do realise that I haven't been all that creative or inventive with my blog lately - it's probably because I now blog for my career too so all my creative energy gets channeled in to that. But I didn't want to let my blog slack and so I've got a couple of new ideas; starting with this best-feelings-blogpost. If you just can't get enough of me though and want to read more of my ramblings then you can do over on the UNiDAYS blog - just look out for any posts that feature me as the author at the top. Anyway; best feelings (a lot of which were contributed by my mum)...

1. Winning a bid on eBay
That's if it's something you actually want and not something that you bid on as a joke. And it's even more satisfying when you win by like a couple of pennies and get your bid in at the very last second.

2. Getting home to find a delivery waiting for you
When you get a text while you're at work to say your parcel has been successfully delivered and it makes your day a whole lot better.

3. Seeing your food coming in a restaurant
Although when I go for lunch with Laura, she always somehow manages to sit in the seat that faces the kitchen so I have to watch her reaction to know when our food is on its way.

4. Finding hidden money
When you think you're totally broke and then you find a fiver in a random bag you haven't used in a while or a tenner in a saving tin that you clearly didn't manage to save much in.

5. Getting paid more than you thought
Whether you just worked it out wrong (like I often do) or you get some tax back, extra money = extra happiness.

6. Catching a bus or train just in time
I was in Sheffield the other day and I was the opposite end of the Meadowhall (which is massive) and my train was due in 4 minutes and I rushed like crazy but still managed to be 1 minute late but apparently god/the universe/luck was on my side and the train was running 2 minutes late so I made it and avoided having to wait half an hour for the next one! On the flip side of that, there is literally no worse feeling in the world than running for a bus and not making it (and having everyone on said bus see you miss it). That's partly why I don't run for buses - the other part of the reason being that I always wear heels which aren't exactly suitable running shoes.

7. Getting clothes in a smaller size than normal
As much as I love female empowerment and embracing and loving our bodies, I have to admit that I am still a cliche at heart and although size doesn't matter, it still feels good when you get one smaller than usual.

8. Getting the last one in stock
When you find the last perfect pair of shoes or last beautiful dress and in your size too. Clearly karma is working it's magic.

9. Doing a shot
Not only does it make you feel like every cliche of being a party-girl, but it also gives you a great fuzzy warm feeling inside(even if they don't always taste nice).

10. Dropping on a roller coaster
I don't understand how people can't enjoy theme parks; that moment just as you drop from the highest point is the best.

11. Getting told you look thinner
Again, all about the body positivity and loving yourself. But when you're on a diet or have been working hard and someone notices, that just makes loving yourself that whole lot better and easier.

12. Seeing your hotel room
When you're on holiday or having a weekend away and you open your door and see your hotel for the first time. And jumping on the freshly made bed - that's pretty great too.

13. When your cocktail is extra fancy
Whether it comes served in a cool glass or comes garnished with sweets, a pretty and instagram-worthy cocktail will always beat one that's served in a bog-standard cup.

14. Getting inside after being out in the rain
My hair is allergic to rain and imitates a lions mane the second it comes into contact with even a little drizzle, but the feeling I mean is when you're in absolutely torrential rain, the kind when you give up and go past the point of caring about getting wet. And then when you finally get inside and get toasty again!

15. Singing at the top of your voice
This one is made even more fun if, like me, you are a terrible singer. Tip: only do this when you are home alone. Contrary to popular belief though, the shower is for deep-thinking and not for singing.

16. Drinking champagne
Even though these is literally no difference in taste between champagne, prosecco and cava (I know because me and my family tested that theory at christmas), it still somehow feels better when you drink real champagne - although your bank account may disagree. A Coco Chanel quote that I particularly love is 'I only drink champagne on two occasions; when I am in love and when I am not'.
