Love or hate: divisive newbies

Some have called it bold. Some have called it garish. I say it's fashion baby. But I know that I'm often drawn to clothing pieces that aren't everyone's cup of tea. I like things that are different, I like pushing boundaries, and I think the 'clean girl aesthetic' can absolutely get in the bin. I've been buying some particularly bold pieces for the summer and so I thought I'd see just how divisive they were with a little game of love or hate on my instagram story. So scroll for the people's verdict, as well as my thoughts and links to all the pieces.

So first up we have these bright pink wide leg trousers, and they actually ended up being more controversial than I'd expected. Sure, they're a very bright colour but otherwise pretty standard. I've always loved having trousers in every colour imaginable and so these were an immediate yes from me as I continue to build my collection of wide leg numbers.

Love 88%
Hate 12%

My jeans collection is maybe even vaster than my trouser one. Although it's naturally harder to find jeans that are a little different, with most of them simply being different cuts and shades. So when I do spot a pair with a more more about them, they go straight in my basket. I have a pair covered in tiny pearls, I have a pair with a dark stained strip down the sides, and now, I have a pinstripe pair too. These will be such a simple way to jazz up a plainer outfit, and the people clearly agreed with me on this one.

Love 86%
Hate 14%

Even I was a little unsure on this one at first, as I wasn't sure if I could pull off such a bold biker look. But given it was a steal, I decided to keep it and wurk it. And since one of my friends pointed out that it's very Christina Aguilera in Dirrty, I love it even more.

I simply knew this would be among the more heavily hate-voted, but this co-ord is one of my favourite things I bought. There's just something about anything lobster/crab print that I'm absolutely obsessing over this summer. I think keeping the palette in tonal blues keeps it looking chic rather than brash, and it's super comfy too. Over a plain bikini this will look so cute.

I thought this skirt would divide people more to be honest, given the bold print and big varieties of colours. But it looks like you guys loved it almost as much as I did. I love having lots of cute little breezy skirts and shorts for holiday season, as they're easy to wear in the day or dress up at night. Expect to see this on my next holiday!

Verdict:
Love 94%
Hate 6%

I've been trying to buy one of these blazer-esque, split-at-the-bottom tops for ages but every time I buy one and try it on, I think they just like they're open because they don't fit. Alas, I've ended up sending them all back. But I was determined I wanted one because they always draw my eye when I'm online shopping, so I figured I'd go for one with gold seashell buttons (another trend I'm obsessed with right now). It ended up being the charm! I love this top, and the buttons are actually like sewn on brooches, with small invisible buttons doing the top up on the inside. It was also the people's favourite, with an overwhelming 94% voting for love. So it seems we can agree on some things.
